Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Prior learning and professional experience may be converted
into academic credits, reducing the duration of your programme
Your professional experience, prior studies, and certified training may be formally recognised and transferred into your academic programme at EHEI through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
Through RPL, you may:
- access a programme even if you do not meet standard entry requirements;
- obtain module exemptions or ECTS credits;
- reduce the duration of your programme by up to 50%, in line with MFHEA regulations.
All RPL applications are assessed through a formalformal academic evaluation process, in accordance with MFHEA and MQF requirements.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a structured academic process that allows the University to assess and recognise learning acquired outside traditional study pathways, provided it can be demonstrated, documented, and assessed against programme or module learning outcomes.
RPL is not automatic and is granted only when learning outcomes are clearly achieved and verified.
Contact the Admissions Office at: admissions@eheinstitute.com to receive initial guidance and information on the RPL process and to identify the most suitable RPL route.
To apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), applicants must submit the RPL Application Formavailable on this page: https://eheinstitute.com/rpl-application-form together with the required supporting documentation.
For RPL for Entry, Advanced Entry, Module Exemption, and RPL for Credit, applicants are also required to submit the RPL Portfolio Template available on this page: https://eheinstitute.com/rpl-portfolio-template with supporting evidence
For Credit Transfer applications, the Portfolio Template is not required unless specifically requested by the Admissions Office.
Documentation is verified and evaluated by the Academic Evaluation Board.
You receive a formal written decision, including any credits, exemptions, or next steps.
- A maximum of 50% of the total ECTS credits of a programme may be awarded through RPL.
- No qualification can be obtained entirely through RPL.
- All evidence must be authentic, relevant, sufficient, current, and MQF-aligned.
- RPL decisions follow MFHEA regulations and institutional quality assurance procedures.
Applicants who wish to appeal an RPL decision may contact the Admissions Office at: admissions@eheinstitute.com to receive the official Appeals Form and guidance on the appeal process.
